As of April 26, 2019, the delegates, advisors, secretariats, and all other members of the MUN program have been on a “red alert lockdown”. The cause of this lockdown was the flooding of Venezuela and Colombia, which is said to be caused by the National Liberal Army. The terrorists had recently attacked the dams of Venezuela and Columbia. The O.S.G (Office of Secretary General) had exclusively informed the I.P.C (International Press Corps) of he lockdown and how they were going to work with the Security Council to solve this crisis. However the I.P.C wasn’t given much information even though they were charged with the task of informing fellow delegates. Later that day news reporters had interrupted the social hours of the delegates and everyone was informed of the flooding. A day later the I.P.C were again given exclusive information.
The information was given off by the O.S.G who, informed the I.P.C on the G.A’s resolve, and how the resolve had recently been vetoed by the Security Councils. The O.S.G had not shown any emotion when reporting the I.P.C of this information. The O.S.G later that same day informed the I.P.C of the newer evacuation plans and the disappearances of the people living in the flooded areas. The O.S.G had recorded about over 200 people dead in these regions and they informed the I.P.C of having very little information on this crisis. They were working hard to figure out more information on this topic. “Red Alert, Terrorist Attack!” was a term created on the spot by the Deputy Secretary General, who had named this crisis based on the information she was working with. Just as much as the name sounds dangerous the situation is proven to be very dangerous. By Group 6

On Friday April 26, 2019, the office of the Secretary General issued a Red Alert. It was titled, Red Alert; Terrorist Attack. Later that same day, the Office of the Secretary General announced that a group of terrorists blew up a dam in Columbia. This caused mass flooding, and Columbia and Venezuela are in a state of national emergency. Over 200 people have been killed, and many hundreds injured. These numbers may not be an accurate representation of the true scale of this disaster, because there are thousands of people missing. On Saturday April 27, the National Liberation Army claimed this attack as one of their own. The U.N. is doing it’s best to find the perpetrators and put a stop to the National Liberation Army. The U.N. has sent medical aid to Colombia and Venezuela in an effort to help injured citizens. We have no other information at this moment. Stay tuned for more breaking news.
By Group 5 As of 6:19 pm (PST) on Friday April 26, 2019, the Model United Nations (MUN) were put on red alert. It is due to threats and rumors of a pending terrorist attack. The Office of Secretary General (OSG) is not able to disclose much information of this topic currently. They have been able to tell the press that there is no need to panic. Deputy Secretary General Rachel Leftwich states, “There is rumors around but there is nothing confirmed and do be advised but not worried,” then states “We were notified by authorities, whom we can not disclose, there have been rumors floating around that there is a terrorist attack within the United Nations.” There will be more information released as soon as OSG receives more on the topic.
On April 27, 2019 at 10:00 am (PST), the situation was updated to a terrorist attack on a dam in South America. The terrorists from the National Liberation Army (NLA) have destroyed a major dam of the Orinoco River. Although the attackers have been apprehended, there has been a developing crisis with over 200 deaths and many more injuries and missing persons due to flooding. Columbia is without clean water and has little power. Ecuador, who is not allies with Columbia nor Venezuela does not have enough water to support their neighboring country of Columbia. The United Nations has declared a state of emergency and has made evacuating people their first priority, as well as trying to prevent any future devistations to other dams. In a recent announcement, it was stated that this may be the first of many planned terrorist attacks surrounding Venezuela and Colombia. Areas around dams in those countries and major dams in South America have been evacuated. They are also under police protection and UN Peacekeeping forces. By Group 4 On the night of the 26 of April, the International Press Corp received urgent news of “Red Alert” terrorist attacks from the office of the Secretary General. “I repeat RED ALERT, terrorist attacks!” This quote was the direct transfer of information from a member of the Office of the Secretary General to the on looking press. They repeatedly told the press that they didn’t know what was happening and to patiently wait for further information. Later into the night, the Office of the Secretary General and all members of Security Council went into a secure room to research and discuss the arising catastrophe. the morning there was a quick press conference where they told the media about flooding in Columbia due to the terrorist attacks. The flood was caused by a terrorist group called The National Liberation Army who bombed a major dam. This killed 239 people, caused unknown masses to go missing, injure thousands of innocent bystanders, and force people to leave Colombia with no clean water and little to no power. This terrorist group has inflicted so much damage, that the Security Council has decided distribute clean, safe water to affected areas. Finally they declared a state of emergency in Columbia and Venezuela. The press is still waiting for more information but for now stay tuned to hear more.
By Group 3 Today, the press finally received news of the red alert that was called yesterday by the Secretary General. As you may know, yesterday, we were told that a red alert switch had been flipped. The OSG couldn’t disclose any information except for the fact that it had to do with a terrorist attack. Today, we were told that this crisis was due to a terrorist attack on the dam between Columbia and Venezuela which has further caused a massive flood to terrorize the many communities of these areas.
We have been told that the National liberation Army has taken credit for this unfortunate act of terrorism which several believe is just one of the many that may or may not occur. At the moment officials are being put everywhere to protect the dams so they can prevent breaches which would cause even more flooding of which could ruin more lives than it already has. Overall the damage has been critical. The destruction in Columbia has currently turned critical, with raw sewage flooding through the streets contaminating many water supply’s and making water overall unable to be consumed without many risk factors. In Venezuela, the water is still mostly usable but that could change in the next few days. This could destroy the lives of many who rely on its many areas of water for food and drinking water. The current death toll is at this moment in time 239 and even more injured people although this may change as the days go by. By Group 2 There has been a terrorist attack on a Columbia dam in the Orinoco River. Many cities and towns were destroyed but one of the main sources of food and water the river was also destroyed, causing major flooding throughout the area. This terrorist attack killed over 200 people and many people are wounded and missing. It has left all of Columbia without fresh water. This terrorist attack left Columbia without electricity. The terrorist group calling themselves the , “People’s Liberation Army”, has claimed responsibility for the attack. This attack caused a state of emergency to be declared for both Columbia and Venezuela because the Orinoco River forms a border for the two countries. As if now more investigations and reports are being held a red alert has also been issued by the UN. The UN crisis group has issued a memo giving directions for dealing with the humanitarian crisis. The delivery of drinkable water and medical treatment for the wounded is a major focus for the resolution. All locals are encouraged to help and aid those who are in need. Plans to prevent further damage have also been put into place. While this is all happening, the UN peacekeeping forces have arrived to help with the issue.
